Free workshops on how to talk to patients about alcohol

Learning representatives will be interested to know that the Department of Health is running free half day workshops on Alcohol Identification and Brief Advice (IBA) - a five minute intervention proven to reduce alcohol consumption in many patients.

The workshops are pending RCN accreditation and will include the benefits of alcohol IBA, practical exercises and the experiences of professionals already undertaking IBA.

Workshop dates

• Wednesday 18 November (Sunderland)
• Tuesday 24 November  (Oxford)
• Thursday 26 November (Manchester)
• Monday 30 November (Birmingham).

 A 'train the trainer' workshop will also be held in London on 10 December 2009.
