Published: 08 December 2011

Andy McGovern has been re-elected as Chair of the RCN’s London board, and Chris McDonnell has been elected Vice Chair.

The board represents the views of all RCN members in the capital, and ensures the views of nursing staff in London are represented in the College’s governing Council.

Andy, who represents London on RCN Council, is Ward Manager for Children and Adolescents at Newham University Hospital NHS Trust.

He said: “I am pleased to be continuing as Chair of the London board, in a crucial year for the capital. It is vital that the voice of nursing staff is heard in the challenging financial climate in the NHS. However, we also look forward to showcasing our city in the Olympics and Paralympics.”

Chris represents the North Central division on the board, and is a staff nurse at Marie Curie Hospice in Hampstead.

Regional Director Bernell Bussue said: “The dedication of RCN London’s board and council members is a vital role in the RCN making sure our members views are heard.
“I look forward to continuing to work with Andy, Chris and Ian in a historic year for London.”

The next London board meeting is taking place on 14 December at the regional office in Grays Inn Road. Topics to be covered include legal and governance review, pensions, branch work and the work of representatives. There is also a short time for interaction with observers.

All RCN London members are invited to attend and observe the meeting. To attend, contact Maureen Graham on 020 7841 3333 or email maureen.graham@rcn.org.uk
