Nursing staff receive big thank you from local community

Nurses at North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust were in for a treat this year, as they celebrated Nurses’ Day on Saturday 12 May.
Hospital catering staff created an amazing RCN themed celebration cake, as well as a range of fairy cakes to mark the occasion. Meanwhile, hundreds of cupcakes were donated to the hardworking nurses from Jan's Sweet Temptations in Thornton and Wintersgate Bakery in Stockton.
Nurses had the chance to win fantastic prizes including facials, body massages and other beauty treatments donated by generous local businesses, as well as enjoying complimentary Indian head massages and Reiki, and free day passes to David Lloyd’s gym in Stockton.
Trust Director of Nursing, Patient Safety and Quality, Sue Smith said: "I would like to thank all of the local businesses that provided treats and free raffle prizes. It means a lot to our nurses to know that they are appreciated so much.
“Nurses day represents a special day for us as nurses. It is a day where we have the opportunity to reflect and celebrate and it is also, for those of us who are a part of this privileged and special profession to be proud of what we do.
“I would like to extend my personal thank you to all nurses and health care staff across the trust. It is a pleasure to be leading such a fantastic group of nurses and healthcare staff who all work hard to provide the very best care to our patients.”
