Former chief nurse honoured with OBE

Former Director of the RCN in Northern Ireland and Chief Nursing Officer for Northern Ireland, Professor Martin Bradley has collected his award of OBE from the Queen. Martin was recognised for his services to nursing in Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK.Martin Bradley honoured with OBE

Speaking about the honour, he said: “I see this not just as a reward for myself but also for nurses and midwives in Northern Ireland. It acknowledges the hard work that these professions do day in, day out, and the way they have responded successfully to the many changes in health and social care over the years. It shows that nursing is still a highly respected profession.”

Professor Bradley served as Director of the RCN in Northern Ireland from 2003 to 2005 before his appointment as Chief Nursing Officer, a post he held until 2011.
