Join in celebrations for Nurses' Day at Craigavon

RCN members in the Southern Trust are invited to celebrate Nurses’ Day on Friday 10 May when nursing teams will showcase their work with displays at Craigavon Area Hospital.

The event coincides with Florence Nightingale’s birthday (12 May 1820) who is recognised as the founder of modern nursing. Margaret Graham from the RCN History of Nursing Network will have a poster presentation on the project Nursing through the troubles featuring stories from the Southern Trust area. As part of this project, a book to be published later this year.

On display will be a letter from Florence Nightingale to Richhill woman Annie Allen and a recording of Florence Nightingale.

The event is supported by the interim Executive Director of Nursing at the trust, Angela McVeigh, who will be in attendance along with both Assistant Directors of Nursing. Representatives from Mentorship, NIPEC, the Open University and the independent sector will attend as well as the Florence Nightingale Foundation.
