RCN pays respects to Mona Grey

Members, staff and friends of the Royal College of Nursing came together today to give thanks for the life and work of Dr Mona Grey OBE FRCN, who passed away on 27 May 2009 at the age of 98.

Mona was the first salaried Secretary of the Royal College of Nursing in Northern Ireland and was later appointed the first government Chief Nursing Officer for Northern Ireland.

A service of thanksgiving for Mona's life was held at St Mary's Church in Comber. During the service, readings were given by RCN President Maura Buchanan and RCN Northern Ireland Director Janice Smyth. Chief Nursing Officer Martin Bradley spoke of Mona's life and her unparalleled contribution to nursing in Northern Ireland.
