Robert Moore receives Award of Merit

Robert Moore, from Saintfield, has received a prestigious award from the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) for his exceptional contribution to health and safety issues across the UK.

Former Vice-Chair of the RCN Northern Ireland Board, Robert received the Award of Merit, which is the highest honour that the RCN can bestow for service to members, at the RCN’s annual Congress which took place recently in Liverpool.


Robert was nominated for the accolade by fellow RCN representatives. Janice Smyth, Director of the RCN in Northern Ireland said: “Over the past eight years, Robert has made a significant and valuable contribution to the work of the RCN, promoting the health and safety of members, and supporting and representing members at a branch level. 


“His work on the RCN Northern Ireland Board has been characterised by his integrity, dignity and his capacity to balance a demanding role with his RCN commitments. Robert is a worthy recipient of this special award.”


On receiving the Award of Merit, Robert, who is Lead Nurse, Primary Care Specialist Nursing, at the South Eastern Trust said:


“I am overwhelmed at receiving this award from the RCN. It is recognition of the role that health and safety representatives can play by working in partnership to keep both patients and staff safe. I am grateful to those who nominated me and to the RCN for all the learning, development and support provided by the College both locally and nationally.”
