Liverpool Care Pathway
Published: 21 December 2012
The Scottish Government has today issued a position statement on the Liverpool Care Pathway for the Dying patient. It includes statements of supports for its position, including the following from RCN Scotland Director Theresa Fyffe:
“Everybody deserves high quality, dignified care at the end of their life. The Liverpool Care Pathway helps support all those involved at this difficult time – from the individual, to their families and the health care team - to work together to achieve this. That’s why the Royal College of Nursing supports the Pathway, which takes the best principles of hospice care and makes this available to people at the end of their live, whether they’re in hospital, their own home or a care home.
The Liverpool Care Pathway is an important tool which ensures that nothing gets overlooked at this difficult time and helps provide a consistent and compassionate approach to end of life care, for the benefit of all."
