RCN Scotland joins in celebrating NHSScotland 60th Anniversary
Published: 23 June 2008
This year sees the 60th Anniversary of NHSScotland. A number of events have been held across Scotland to recognise those who have made a unique contribution to the development of the Health Service, and RCN Scotland Director Theresa Fyffe said:
“With the NHS reaching its 60th anniversary this year, there is much to celebrate and the NHSScotland event in Glasgow will showcase some of those personal highlights and successes.
“Throughout its history, nurses have been at the heart of the NHS, as the primary point of contact for patients, delivering high-quality patient care. This is a time to celebrate the achievements of all those who work day in, day out, in our health service and to pay tribute to those who worked tirelessly and helped develop our health service over the last 60 years.
“The need for innovation is just as great today as in 1948: to tackle our nation’s health problems, the first step for all those working within the health sector is to learn from the past 60 years and to recognise and value each other's contribution to the health and healthcare agenda for the benefit of patients and public alike.
“RCN Scotland joins in celebrating the 60th anniversary of NHSScotland.”
