Bitten by the learning bug?
Published: 05 August 2008
Have you ever wanted to improve your job prospects or wondered how to meet your KSF profile? Not sure if you have the time or resources to develop your nursing career? Well fear not because as Mid Surrey branch members found out recently the RCN Institute have overhauled their services and now provide help for online portfolios, personal development planning, updates on clinical skills as well as forming strategic alliances with the Open University. This allows members the opportunity to update themselves clinically from 'bite sized' chunks on relevant topics to full blown university degrees.
Geraldine Cunningham, Director of the RCN Institute was the guest speaker of the branch meeting held at Central Surrey Health’s Leatherhead hospital base. Community staff joined local activists such as learning Rep Gail Seadon in an interactive session which was very positively received. Branch chair Mike Smith said afterwards "We have an amazing amount of resources available to us for learning and development, but I'm not sure members always realise that they can access most of it for free. This session will hopefully make more members aware of what's on offer."
