Loss of annual leave would be “Underhand”

The Royal College of Nursing have reacted to a proposal by Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust that all members of staff would lose a day of annual leave.

The proposal was made at the Trust’s Employees’ Partnership Forum and was instantly slammed by those in attendance.

Sarah Dodsworth, RCN Operational Manager said: “We will not accept this underhand deviation from national agreements. This proposal is unjust and unfair and it is incredible to think that the Trust would even suggest it. To ask hard working members of staff to forego a day of leave just because a process that is entirely out of their hands is taking some time to resolve will not be tolerated. The Royal College of Nursing will challenge this proposal and are happy to support any members of staff if they have concerns.”

The RCN will be meeting members on 8th March to discuss next steps.

The suggestion has been proposed to compensate for a delay in the process of making changes to some Agenda for Change terms and conditions.
