Published: 20 February 2013
A fund set up to encourage GP practice nurses in Dorset, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight to further their education is now open for applications.
The Wessex RCN Fund for Practice Nurse Advancement supports individuals in their learning and development activities, aiming to enhance the care that patients receive and promote good health.
The RCN Foundation offers a range of bursaries to suit different learning and development plans. To be eligible, you must be either:
- a registered nurse in General Practice (registered in the UK), who lives in Dorset, Hampshire or the Isle of Wight;
- a practice nurse, trainer or facilitator providing study days or courses for practice nurses.
Previous winners of the Wessex RCN Fund can reapply provided they have fulfilled all the terms of their previous award/s.
The fund can be used to help pay for:
- course fees
- conference fees
- travel - at public transport rates except where there is a medical or other compelling reason to pay mileage/taxi costs
- accommodation
- research costs (e.g. focus groups)
- project costs
- costs for implementing and/or publishing/promoting the learning/outcomes where these are not made available commercially.
To apply for the award, however, 10 per cent of the cost of the course must be paid by your employer and no retrospective awards will be given for courses or study days already booked or started.
Application deadline: Wednesday 1 May 2013. All applicants will be informed of the results by Saturday 1 June 2013.
If you are interested in applying for a bursary, please fill in the application form.
