RCN respond to Sussex Community NHS Trust staff briefing
Published: 13 March 2013
Royal College of Nursing have responded to the Sussex Community NHS Trust staff briefing document Standardisation of Mileage rates.
The RCN, along with other trade unions, have agreed with NHS Employers new Agenda for Change (AfC) mileage reimbursement rates, which are effective from 1 July 2013. These new provisions are based on the motoring costs published by the AA. The guides they produce, which will be used to set the new reimbursement rates, take into account all of the costs of keeping a car on the road, including petrol, repairs, insurance and road tax.
Sussex Community NHS Trust (SCT), has submitted alternative proposals, which do not reflect the nationally agreed AfC arrangements. The RCN has written to SCT to reiterate that we expect our members, who are currently receiving AfC terms to continue to do so and to automatically transfer to the new arrangements in July 2013. We have also suggested, to ensure equity across the organisation, that all staff transfer to the new AfC arrangement.
