RCN South East's first Palliative Care Conference a sell-out

Published: 09 November 2012

Nursing staff from the South East region made our first Palliative Care Conference a huge success.

The event, which took place on 7 November at the Mandolay Hotel in Guildford, featured a packed programme aimed at giving delegates some tools for taking care of themselves, as well as their patients.

Top of the bill was laughter coach Lisa Sturge of Laughterlines Coaching, who led the group through an uproarious interactive laughter workshop, demonstrating that a good giggle can be a stress busting tool.

Places for the conference - entitled 'Keep Calm and Care: The resilience to deliver quality care' - were fully booked well in advance of the event, with some potential attendees too late to get places.

Teresa Budrey, the RCN South East's Independent Sector Lead, said: "We were absolutely delighted by the turn out, as well as the way all the delegates really threw themselves into the day.

"We've had a lot of good feedback already, and are hoping to run similar events next year.

"We're particularly pleased because it was the region's first event aimed at the Independent Sector. We feel that we're really strengthening our relationships in that sector, which is a growing area of membership."
