South East nurses up for Nursing Standard Nurse Awards

Five nurses from the South East region are finalists in the Nursing Standard Nurse Awards 2013.
Held annually, the awards celebrate and highlight excellence in nursing, identifying 'exceptional nursing professionals who demonstrate clinical excellence and innovation and who, through their initiatives and nursing practice, improve the quality of patient care'. The winners will be announced at a prestigious awards ceremony at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London on Tuesday 12 March.
The finalists from the region are:
- Defence Nursing Award: Catherine Shephard, Clinical OF4 general duties, Army Medical Directorate, Andover, Hampshire
- Defence Nursing Award: Mark Reed, Defence Lead Apheresis Nurse, Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre, Headley Court, Surrey
- Ehealth Award: Daniel Marsden, Practice Development Nurse, William Harvey Hospital, Kent
- Healthcare Assistant Award: Christine Shaller, Assistant Practitioner, Sandhurst Group Practice, Berkshire
- International Nursing Award: Colleen Lloyd, Senior Staff Nurse, Community Stroke Rehabilitation Team, Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust
Patricia Marquis, director of the RCN in the South East, said: "We are delighted to have so many nurses from the region as finalists for the Nurse Awards this year, and we wish them all the best of luck."
