Published: 15 February 2013
RCN Congress 2013 will soon be with us, taking place this year from Sunday 21 to Thursday 25 April at the Arena and Convention Centre in Liverpool, tickets to attend are free.
This year’s conference promises to be really interesting, with events scheduled that relate to all sectors of the nursing profession, so there is something for everyone on the agenda. The event also features special programmes for students, healthcare assistants and assistant practitioners.
There is a wide variety of debates included on the agenda, with five of them submitted by branches in the South West. The ones put forward by our regional branches include discussions on:
- Showing that we care ~ a discussion on how nurses can maintain and enhance the trust of the public and show they really do care (submitted by East Dorset).
- The future of regulation ~ to discuss how health care professionals should be regulated in the future (Submitted by the Devon branch).
- It's up to you ~ discussion on how to secure better levels of engagement by members in RCN ballots and elections (submitted by East Dorset).
- Emergency response ~ Congress declares that it will only support closures of emergency departments where there is a robust clinical case and not purely as a cost saving exercise (submitted by East Dorset), discuss.
- Future funding of health services ~ discussion on the future funding and provision of health services without a National Health Service (submitted by the Devon branch).
There will also be a number of agenda events that explore individual fields of practice. By attending the debates, you get to discuss the current issues and show support for the regional branches.
Congress also features one of the largest nursing exhibitions in the UK, which runs from Monday 22 to Wednesday 24 April and aims to bring together everything healthcare staff need to know to keep up to date in their area of practice. You will gain valuable knowledge of the latest products, services and equipment relevant to you in your workplace and discover the latest health trends and information surrounding the nursing profession.
