South West activist Jane Bovey, attended a special Diamond Jubilee Garden Party at Buckingham Palace last month (23 May), in recognition of her continued service to the RCN over the years and support for South West members.

Jane was nominated to attend due to her many roles within the RCN, such as her continued role as RCN Lead Steward and Chair of her local NHS Foundation Trust, her work with the Perioperative Forum, as well as being an ex member of the RCN Council (in 2007-2011) representing the South West region.

Jane Bovey stated on the day: “We were privileged to attend this garden party and had the honour of being presented to HRH Princess Alexandra. We were given the opportunity to describe our respective roles and functions within the RCN as voluntary activists and in our clinical specialities in our respective Trusts.

“We were also able to discuss with her how our work with RCN served to positively influence all health care issues; that patients' interests were at the forefront of our work and that we were proud and privileged to represent our members, promoting quality, practice and standards on the professional side.”

“It was a great honour and privilege to represent the South West RCN and a big thank you must go to those who nominated me".
