Catch up with RCN Bulletin

Published: 01 August 2012

RCN Bulletin - issue 294The August issue of RCN Bulletin is now available to read online.

It contains an update on the current RCN elections – where President Andrea Spyropoulos and Deputy President Cecilia Anim have both been elected unopposed for their second two-year terms of office.

There is also reaction to Government plans to reform social care in England, and a look at the latest report on the workings of the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

This month’s features examine the National Early Warning Score, developed by the RCN, the Royal College of Physicians and the National Outreach Forum. It is designed to bring standardisation to the way a patient’s vital signs are scored and monitored.

Other features are on the College’s diamond nurses – who have been in membership for more than 60 years, on the Northern Ireland nurse of the year, and on how an RCN member is tackling the stigma of mental health issues among rugby league players.

In RCN Bulletin Extra, there is more on how hypnotherapy can help patients with irritable bowel syndrome, and an extended interview with the RCN’s new Primary Health Care Adviser, Rebecca Cheatle.

Read this month’s RCN Bulletin and vote in an online poll on older people’s care.
