‘Count on care’ says RCN President

The Royal College of Nursing President, Maura Buchanan has reflected on the theme of this year's RCN Congress - Counting on care - in her opening speech to delegates.
Emphasising how nursing makes a difference and leads the way in good care, Maura talked about what good care looks like and emphasised there were five elements to good care - dignity, quality, compassion, safety and respect.
The RCN President also used her speech to promote her 2009 fund, - maternal and child health in Africa, - for which she is collecting money for during the conference. She spoke about her recent visit to Kenya and outlined the great work which been done as a result of the £2000 raised at RCN Congress 2008.
