Enter the Nursing Standard awards

Published: 09 March 2009

RCN members are being encouraged to enter the Nursing Standard awards which celebrate groundbreaking and innovative nursing. It would be wonderful to see a public acknowledgement for the fantastic work being carried out by RCN members on a daily basis.

Nursing Standard are seeking outstanding individuals who have made a real difference to care. The awards are open to qualified nurses, midwives and health visitors registered to practise in the UK, pre-registration student nurses and health care assistants. There are 12 categories, each with a winner and runner-up.

In addition to the prestige associated with the awards, category winners will also receive prizes of £1000. Runners-up will win £500. One of the 12 category winners will also be selected as the overall winner of Nursing Standard Nurse of the Year 2009 and will receive a further £2000.

The RCN has a direct involvement in the awards, sponsoring the Innovation in your Specialty Award, the Robert Tiffany Award and jointly sponsoring the Health care Assistant Award (with the Open University).

An awards ceremony will take place in The Dorchester Hotel in London on Monday 09 November 2009.

The closing date for nominations is 10 April 2009 and you may either nominate yourself or a colleague on the Nursing Standard Awards website: www.nurseawards.co.uk. You may also telephone: 020 8423 1066.
