The RCN are currently recruiting members to the RCN Prison nurses and Complementary therapies forum committees. The closing date for the submission of applications is 25 July 2008.

Complementary therapies forum
The Complementary therapies forum is open to all nurses who are keen to develop and influence policy and practice across a broad range of therapies. The RCN has a strong voice within policy development in this area and has a valuable contribution to make at a national level.
In the past, the committee have been involved in giving evidence at government select committees, providing the nursing voice within policy forums and supporting members who are developing their skills in this field of practice.

Prison nurses forum
Historically, the Prison nurses forum has been a relatively small group of nurses but numbers have grown in recent years. The forum now supports all nurses and healthcare support workers who work within Criminal Justice Services including those working in Police Custody, court diversion, Prison In-Reach, immigration detention centres and prisons. The RCN has a strong voice within policy development in this area and has made a valuable contribution at national level.
Committee members will have the opportunity to work with forum members and contribute to existing RCN work such as updating the 'Nursing in Prisons' guidance. The forum works closely with the Prison's Inspectorate, Police Services and Home Office Ministers.
People who come into contact with CJS services are in need of professional nursing care and innovation and by getting involved as a national RCN forum committee member you will be able to use your skills, expertise and knowledge to maximum effect. The RCN voice in CJS services is dependent upon you as an expert.
