Invitation to participate in dementia consultation

RCN members are being invited to participate in an RCN online consultation on the Department of Health’s draft National Dementia Strategy for England. The consultation, led by the RCN Nursing Department, will ensure that member views will directly inform the formal RCN response.

The RCN consultation, which closes on 20 August 2008, has prioritised some of the Department of Health consultation questions and is available in the policy area of the website.

The consultation provides an opportunity to positively influence improvements in the quality of care people with dementia and their family carers receive, and to ensure dignity is central to the way care is delivered.

It is expected that the final National Dementia Strategy will be published in autumn 2008. Responses directly to the Department of Health are also invited from the general public until 11 September 2008.
