NHS Next Stage Review – report due today

Published: 30 June 2008

Lord Ara DarziThe report of the NHS Next Stage Review, led by Lord Ara Darzi, is due to be published today, 30 June 2008.

The review aims to set out the way forward for the NHS in England in the coming years.

The RCN has been very heavily involved in the long and comprehensive consultation process. At local level, RCN members and regional officers have engaged with and contributed to the consultations carried out through the strategic health authorities. Nationally, the RCN has worked closely with the Chief Nursing Officer on the review and held a meeting in April at which Lord Darzi heard the views of around seventy nurses from around the country. RCN Chief Executive & General Secretary, Dr Peter Carter, has also met with Lord Darzi on several occasions.

You can watch the launch of the report live today from 2.30pm on Our NHS website: http://www.ournhs.nhs.uk/

The RCN’s comment on the review will be published here later today.
