NHS pension contributions set to rise
Published: 01 February 2013
Employee contribution rates for the NHS Pension Scheme will increase from 1 April.
This is the second year of the Government- imposed 3.2% average annual increase in contributions. Further contribution rises will be expected next year so that by 2014 the average employee contribution level will be 9.8%.
RCN Senior Employment Adviser Gerry O’Dwyer said: “Nurses with pensionable pay of £26,558 - £48,982 will see their contributions rise from eight to nine per cent. Some nursing staff earning below £26,558 a year may see a smaller increase, while those earning over £48,983 will see a rise of 2.4%.”
Scheme members will have received information on the contribution changes in their payslips.
