‘Outstanding’ review for RCN reps’ programme

A new review of RCN representatives’ learning and development has found that staff involved demonstrate outstanding and significantly high levels of commitment to improving quality of the programme.

The Open College Network (OCN) review of the UK programme confirms the awarding organisation’s national quality standards have been met.

OCN observed that the RCN had initiated significant and fundamental developments in response to recommendations made in the earlier 2011 quality review.

Janet Davies, RCN Director of Nursing and Service Delivery, said:  “We are delighted that the partnership with the OCN is helping us to ensure that the RCN offers the highest quality learning and development to all our RCN representatives both now and in the future.”

The RCN’s Executive Team took the decision in 2008 to seek accreditation from an external accrediting body to ensure the quality and consistency of the learning and development pathway and approved the appointment of OCN in July 2011.
