The Royal College of Nursing has been awarded £300,000 from the Union Learning Fund for a new two year project starting in April 2009. The new project will focus on delivering learning and development opportunities for learning representatives in England.
RCN Chief Executive & General Secretary, Dr Peter Carter said:
"I am delighted that the work the RCN has done with unionlearn in delivering projects over the last ten years can continue, and that we have been able to secure this further funding of £300,000. This funding is a vote of confidence in our activities to ensure that members in every workplace have access to the best learning and development opportunities available.
The new project focuses on delivering new opportunities to learning representatives on the ground, such as working in partnership with employers, which will undoubtedly benefit nursing staff across health care.
The RCN has said it is very pleased to be continuing to work in partnership with unionlearn and looks forward to strengthening this relationship in the future.
The Government established the Union Learning Fund in 1998. It was established to strengthen the role and importance of unions in learning within the workplace and, in doing so, to drive up the demand for skills.
