RCN honours exceptional individuals

The Royal College of Nursing has today honoured individuals in an awards ceremony which recognised distinction, expertise and an exceptional contribution to nursing, health care and service to the RCN.

Award of Merit: Annette Else, Alice Lyons, Anita Murray, Ian Norris, Andrew Patrick
Christine Verity.
Fellowship: Professor Bernie Carter, Baroness Audrey Emerton, Judith Hill CBE, Professor Ian Norman, Susan Oliver, Professor Roger Watson.
Honorary Fellowship: Dr Patricia Hamilton, Professor Dr Mi Ja Kim.
Learning Representative of the Year: Marva Duncan and Beverley Hernandez (joint award)
Safety Representative of the Year: Tony Sawyer

Awards of Merit
The RCN Award of Merit was instituted in 1994. RCN Council awards members who
have made an outstanding contribution to the work of the RCN.
Fellowships and Honorary Fellowships
RCN Fellowships are awarded to UK registered nurses who have made an outstanding contribution to the advancement of nursing and/or health care. RCN Honorary Fellowships are awarded to nurses registered outside the UK of international repute and distinction, or to other individuals who have had a significant impact on nursing and health care.
RCN Fellows have made exceptional contributions to the art and science of nursing, and many continue to use their expertise to support and enhance the work of the RCN in pursuit of its aim of improving standards of nursing care.

Awarded to commemorate the hard work, dedication and outstanding commitment shown by the RCN's representatives.
