RCN issues swine flu guidance for children in ITU

Published: 20 July 2009

The Royal College of Nursing has issued a position statement which addresses caring for children within adult general intensive care units during a pandemic flu outbreak.

The guidance recognises that a pandemic flu outbreak may present health care workers with ethical and professional dilemmas and advises that the primary consideration of nurses and midwives at all times must be to act in the best interests and safety of patients in their care.
