RCN members elect new Council members

The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) today announced the outcome of elections to its governing body, RCN Council. Two RCN Council members represent each of the countries of the United Kingdom and each of the English regions, and one seat per country and region was up for election in 2013.
The members elected at this election to represent the regions and countries are:
- East Midlands – Gill Cort
- London – Peter Walsh
- North West – Joanne Kerr
- Northern Ireland – Fiona Devlin
- South East – Sylvia Simmons
- Wales – Gaynor Jones
- West Midlands – Tracey Budding
- Yorkshire & The Humber – Anne Kennedy.
The following candidates have been elected unopposed:
- Eastern – Carol Evans
- Northern – Gordon Lees
- Scotland – Michael Brown
- South West – Lors Allford.
Incoming members of RCN Council will take their seats following the RCN’s annual general meeting on October 16 2013. The terms of office will be from 17 October 2013 to 31 December 2017. As agreed by RCN Council in February 2012, the terms of office have been extended whilst the RCN aligns its election cycle to the calendar year.
