RCN provides briefing for MPs on local and regional pay
Published: 20 June 2012
The Royal College of Nursing has published a new parliamentary briefing on local and regional pay in the NHS.
The document, which has been sent to all members of parliament in Westminster, contains background information on the Agenda for Change contract and the RCN’s position on regional and local pay.
The RCN believes that a move towards local and regional pay will have a negative impact on the UK economy, whereas the current system has the benefits of helping prevent unequal pay issues and reducing the cost of pay bargaining. The briefing highlights the flexibility in the current contractual system and the potential for an increasing number of cross-border problems in local labour markets, should moves away from Agenda for Change be implemented.
