RCN publishes Equality Bill briefing
Published: 29 May 2009
The Royal College of Nursing has published a briefing on the Equality Bill which is due to move into Public Bill Committee stage in the House of Commons on 2 June 2009. The briefing has already been sent to the 20 MPs on the Committee.
The briefing states there are many areas of the Bill which the RCN welcomes, but there are some areas where the RCN has concerns and feels the legislation should go further.
The Equality Bill 2009, which was published by the Government last month, aims to consolidate all the discrimination legislation into one Act of Parliament. This will bring together legislation from 1970 onwards, in a more accessible form.
