RCN value highlighted in new film
Published: 02 October 2012
Dr Peter Carter, RCN Chief Executive & General Secretary, has explained the reasons for the proposed increase in membership fees in a short film.
In the video message available on the RCN website, Dr Carter outlines the challenges facing the College and its members, including the ongoing fight against regional pay and the increasing number of nurses facing Nursing and Midwifery Council hearings. He explains that in nearly 80% of these cases where members are represented by the RCN, no action is taken against the nurses involved. He also highlights that £4.5 million in compensation has been recovered for members by the RCN’s legal team.
To enable the RCN to continue to provide these and other services, Dr Carter urges members to support the proposal to raise subscriptions by 32 pence a month for full nurse members at this month’s annual general meeting.
