RCN welcomes appointment of DH Diversity Adviser

The Royal College of Nursing has said that the appointment of Joan Myers to the position of Department of Health expert advisor on equality and diversity issues is ‘fantastic news’. The RCN is looking forward to working closely with Ms Myers to create tangible solutions to the equalities and diversity challenges facing nursing. 

The RCN’s Race Equality Champion, Tom Sandford said:

“The appointment of Joan to this key role as Department of Health diversity adviser is fantastic news. Joan is an extremely talented nurse who has the experience, skills and emotional intelligence to build the types of relationships and influence that will add real capacity to positive diversity outcomes in the service.

As the RCN Race Equality Adviser, I look forward to working with her and creating a robust Department of Health / RCN platform that adds value and creates through a shared voice around change.”

Joan Myers is a nurse consultant in children’s community nursing and will work at the Department of Health for two days a week.
