A report to highlight the urgent need to tackle malnutrition has been welcomed by the Royal College of Nursing.
Commenting on the launch of Combating Nutrition: Recommendations for Action, published by the British Association for Parenteral & Enteral Nutrition (BAPEN), Dr Peter Carter, Chief Executive & General Secretary of the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) said:
“We fully support the recommendations, and echo the call for children and adults in all settings to be screened and monitored for malnutrition. It is vital that appropriate screening equipment and training is provided for all health and social care workers.
The RCN is committed to improving nutritional care. Our Nutrition Now! campaign helps nurses and other health care workers to provide their patients with good nutritional care. A range of resources including information leaflets and a CD to facilitate educational workshops are available.”
