This month, the magazine for RCN members looks at the vital votes at the RCN annual general meeting, which takes place on 17 October in London. There is a special two-page special on local pay, examining what is happening in all four countries of the UK.

RCN Deputy President Cecilia Anim discusses the significance of Black History Month, while Grace Vanterpool, a specialist in diabetes nursing, looks at why there are so few nurses from black or minority ethnic backgrounds reaching senior nursing positions.

There are also features on the RCN Counselling Service, the 150th anniversary of health visiting and on a new RCN film on dementia care.

In RCN Bulletin Extra, there is more on the counselling service, and on the Butterfly Scheme, which helps people in dementia when in hospital.
