Record numbers watch Congress online

Published: 21 May 2009

Over 27,000 individuals watched RCN Congress live from Harrogate and over 5,300 have since watched an archived session, with this figure continuing to rise.

The number of people watching the live debates is nearly twenty times higher than last year, and this has been attributed to a significant improvement in broadcast quality and the decision taken to make the content available to the Nursing Standard and ProNurse websites.

The most watched item was the Prime Minister's historic speech to Congress held on Monday morning but also popular were the speeches made by RCN President, Maura Buchanan, the RCN Chief Executive & General Secretary, Dr Peter Carter, the Department of Health's Dignity Ambassador, Sir Michael Parkinson and Leader of the Conservative Party, David Cameron.

RCN Digital Communications Manager, Leon Hughes says:

"I'm delighted that so many members were able to watch the events from Congress as they happened."
