Royal College of Physicians and Royal College of Nursing survey on alcohol treatment services
Published: 27 February 2009
The Royal College of Nursing is encouraging members to make their views known on UK alcohol treatment services by completing an online RCN / RCP survey on the subject.
The survey is being conducted to gain a better understanding of how rising levels of harmful alcohol consumption are affecting frontline clinicians and the NHS.
Views are being sought on the following issues:
- The scale of alcohol related health harms in your particular clinical environment.
- Where you feel there are gaps in service provision for people with alcohol related health problems.
- Government policy initiatives and national strategies to tackle alcohol related harm.
The findings of this survey will support submissions to the Health Select Committee inquiry into alcohol which is looking at:
- The scale of ill-health related to alcohol misuse.
- The consequences for the NHS.
- UK Government policy.
- The role of the NHS and other bodies including local government, the voluntary sector, police, the alcohol industry, and those responsible for the advertising and promotion of alcohol.
- Solutions, including whether the drinking culture in the UK should change, and if so, how.
The survey closure date has been extended until 5pm on Monday 09 March 2009.
