Queens Honours

RCN Wales congratulates the recipients of awards in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours.
The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) in Wales congratulates Professor Donna Mead who received an MBE in the New Year’s Honours.
Professor Donna Mead is Dean of the Faculty of Health, Sport and Science at the University of Glamorgan and the 2006 recipient of the Welsh Board Annual Special Recognition Award.
Professor Mead has been recognised for her innovative and inspiring approach to nursing education and has held a number of key posts in nursing practice, research and education across Wales. She is currently a member of the Medical Research Council of Experts a grant holder to a number of current projects including a joint funded Health Foundation and Word capacity building and a British Council funded study into care of the elderly, which involves Wales and Portugal.
Professor Mead’s most recent research includes prison health and autism.
Professor Mead was responsible for the recognition received by Welsh Nurse Betsi Cadwaladr for her contribution to healthcare during the Crimean War.
Colonel Phil Hubbard has also received an OBE for services to his country and 203 Field Hospital (Wales). Colonel Hubbard served for over 40 years in the Army and most recently served in Iraq and Afghanistan. Colonel Hubbard currently works as a Health Care Support Worker Consultant for the Royal College of Nursing in Wales.
