Reduced hospital acquired infection Rates in Wales

Responding to press coverage that hospital acquired infection rates in Wales are lower than those in England, Eirlys Warrington Chair of RCN Wales Welsh Board and RCN UK Council said:

Nurses alongside other healthcare professionals have played an important role in the battle against healthcare acquired infection such as MRSA. We know that it is the team approach that works best in combating infection rates and when everyone, including healthcare professionals, patients and their visitors understand and practice good principles in controlling infection and preventing cross infection.  We acknowledge the wonderful achievement in reducing MRSA rates in Wales but clearly the message is the same in that we must not become complacent and must continue to strive to dramatically reduce infection control rates further.
