News from Yorkshire and the Humber (March 2012)

West Yorkshire:

A student nurse from Huddersfield University will find out if he's won the prestigious title of Nursing Standard's 'Student Nurse of the year' on 22nd march. After being selected as one of just two national finalists, Richard Broadhead will attend the annual awards dinner in London.

 

North and East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire:

MP for Scunthorpe, Nic Dakin, met John Hill and Jane-Elizabeth Tooke to listen to their concerns over the potential risks posed when migrant workers are sent medication through the post from their home country and then potentially go to their local GP to obtain further prescriptions. As well as listening to these concerns Nic Dakin also agreed to attend a special branch meeting on 16 March to speak to more of the members.

 

South Yorkshire:

RCN Learning Reps could soon be playing a greater role in staff development at the South West Yorkshire Partnership Foundation Trust. Chair of the Barnsley branch, Paul Smith, has been working alongside Unison to develop a Trade Union Learning agreement at the Trust. Positive discussions have taken place with the head of training and senior managers.
