RCN troubled that CQC again raises concerns about the Mid Yorkshire NHS Trust

In response to a report by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) imposing restrictions on the use of the Day Surgical Unit at Pinderfield Hospital, part of the Mid Yorkshire NHS Trust, Kevin Austerberry, Regional Director for the Royal College of Nursing in Yorkshire and the Humber said:

“We are troubled that the CQC has again raised concerns about inadequacies at the Mid Yorkshire NHS Trust.  Nurses have been put in a very difficult position.  But they have continued to provide good quality care, despite the lack of suitable patient facilities available on a temporary ward.  Staff have been at full stretch coping with an unusually high number of admissions because of ‘winter pressures’.  This situation is unacceptable for both patients and staff alike.   It is of vital importance to patient safety that health care providers do their utmost to ensure health care facilities are fit for purpose and that patients are treated with the dignity and respect that they deserve”.
