Nursing & Midwifery Council - joint union response to CHRE report

Responding to the damning report by the Council for Regulation of Health Excellence (CHRE) into the conduct of the NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council), health unions, the Royal College of Nursing, UNISON, Royal College of Midwives and Unite have issued a joint statement:

RCN accepts three-year pay deal 92.7% of members who took part in the RCN’s recent pay consultation have voted in favour of the Government’s pay deal worth 7.99 per cent over three years.
Forthcoming forum committee elections

ICN announces revised dates for 2009 Congress

The International Council of Nurses (ICN) have confirmed 27 June – 04 July 2009 as the dates for their 24th quadrennial Congress in Durban. The dates have been revised by one week, to ensure the event did not clash with a major rugby match due to be held in the city at the same time.
Chair and Vice Chair of Congress elected

Jason Warriner and Roderick (Rod) Thomson have been re-elected unopposed as Chair and Vice Chair of Congress respectively. Both will begin their two year term of office at the Agenda Committee meeting on 25 June 2008.
