RCN announces appointment of New Director for Human Resources

The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) is pleased to announce the appointment of David Cooper as Director for Human Resources.

David will take up his post with the RCN on 10th September and will be responsible for leading the HR team, supporting the RCN's change programme and developing and implementing HR policy and strategy across the organisation.

David has a wealth of experience in both the public sector and professional and trade associations and has held board level Director positions in a number of different organisations. Previously, David held the position of Director for Human Resources and Corporate Affairs at the East London and The City Mental Health NHS Trust. He is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and has recently worked as an Associate National Officer at Managers in Partnership (Unison). David also lectures part-time on a Postgraduate Diploma course in Human Resources Management and on a Masters degree.

David said: "I am delighted to be joining the RCN and look forward to the opportunity to apply my knowledge of Human Resources and trade unions to the largest professional union of nursing staff in the world. It is vital that the Human Resources functions are managed in a way that enables staff to apply and develop their skills in a supportive environment."
