RCN welcomes move by Government to make hospitals safer

Published: 08 October 2007

Commenting on the Criminal Justice and Immigration Bill, which has its second reading in the House of Commons today, RCN Director of Nursing and Service Delivery, Janet Davies said;

“Violence against NHS staff is unacceptable. Nurses and their colleagues should be able to provide care for their patients free from the threat of violence or the distractions that nuisance behaviour presents.

“The RCN welcomes this legislation as it promotes the message that nuisance behaviour will not be tolerated on NHS premises and creates new powers for NHS bodies to deal with this behaviour before it escalates”
