RCN announces timetable for members' vote about NHS pensions proposals
Published: 17 January 2012
The Royal College of Nursing today announced the timetable for the members’ vote in which they will decide whether they wish to accept or reject the Government’s ‘final’ pensions proposals.
All RCN members apart from those already retired will receive voting papers in the week beginning January 30, 2012 with the closing date for returns being 4pm on 27 February 2012. RCN Council will then hold a special meeting on 28 February to discuss next steps in the process. The vote will be managed by external company Electoral Reform Services
Dr Peter Carter, RCN Chief Executive & General Secretary, said:
“We would encourage all members to study their voting papers, make their choice and influence what happens next. This will enable Council to gauge the true feeling and mood of the membership so it is vital that as many members as possible take part in this critical process.”
Members will be able to vote online, by telephone or by returning their voting papers in a pre-paid envelope.
