RCN appoints new Public Health Adviser

The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) today announced the appointment of Jan Maw as its new Public Health Adviser. Jan will be responsible for public health, occupational health, sexual health, travel health and TB nursing.
Before taking up her new post, Jan supported the RCN Nursing Division as an Occupational Health Adviser. Since qualifying as a general nurse in 1978, Jan has gained experience in adult nursing, rheumatology and infectious diseases and has previously been a member of the DH Ad Hoc Working Party on Guidance for Occupational Health.
Jan is a qualified Specialist Community Public Health Nurse and Registered Nurse Teacher, and currently holds a Nurse Lecturer Post at the University of Sheffield. Jan has also held posts at the former English National Board as Education Adviser, and at the NMC as an Overseas Advisor and Visitor.
Commenting on the new appointment Dr Peter Carter, RCN Chief Executive & General Secretary, said:
