RCN responds to announcement that Baroness Young is to leave CQC

Published: 07 December 2009

Following the announcement that Baroness Young is to leave the CQC, Dr Peter Carter, Chief Executive & General Secretary of the Royal College of Nursing (RCN), said:

"We are naturally saddened to learn that Baroness Young is to relinquish her position at the CQC after a relatively short time in post, however, we respect her decision to do so.

"Along with other organisations, the RCN has consistently supported the CQC in developing a robust and reliable system of monitoring. We hope Baroness Young's departure will not cause any setbacks to the progress the CQC is making in developing a regulatory system which all parties have confidence in."
