RCN responds to Panorama investigation into domiciliary care

Published: 10 April 2009

Commenting on the Panorama investigation into domiciliary care, Dr Peter Carter, Chief Executive & General Secretary of Royal College of Nursing, said:

"Panorama should be commended for bringing the shocking practices that are taking place in the care of some older people at home to the public's attention. It is deeply concerning to see just how little training some staff are offered.

"It is vital that all care staff receive the right training and support and that there is appropriate regulation in place to ensure this happens. Without enough training for care workers, it is simply not possible for people in care homes to receive the quality of care that they expect and deserve."
