RCN response to NMC review
Published: 26 January 2012
Responding to today’s announcement of a strategic review of the NMC, Royal College of Nursing Chief Executive & General Secretary, Dr Peter Carter, said:
“We welcome this review of the NMC. An effective, fit for purpose nursing regulator which can effectively uphold professional standards, is vital for the public, patients and the nursing profession. The NMC must be able to deliver its core functions of safeguarding the health and wellbeing of the public, and promoting high standards of professional conduct across the UK. It is crucial that the NMC has a strong professional voice in its leadership.
“The Royal College of Nursing is committed to working closely with the CHRE and other key stakeholders to ensure the regulator is strengthened and that areas needing improvement are addressed.”
