RCN response to the first Nursing Care Quality Forum

Dr Peter Carter, Chief Executive & General Secretary of the RCN said:

“We welcomed the creation of this Forum, of which the RCN is a member, in January, and we look forward to giving our perspective on behalf of both nurses and patients. The priorities set out in this announcement are very much in line with those that we have been campaigning on for some time. In particular, patients need their nurses to be freed up to provide high quality care, and this includes a number of practical changes, such as empowering ward sisters to lead and reducing unnecessary form filling. We look forward to identifying good practice and the factors which allow that good practice to flourish. Nurses are committed to delivering the best care possible, and we welcome the strong nursing involvement on this Forum.”
